Top Asian Dark Chocolate with Flavouring 2025

Origin & Craftsmanship
This innovative bar from SLOK Chocolate is crafted by aging their Peru-sourced cocoa bars in a sealed environment with Idaho 7 hops, a process that allows the chocolate to absorb the hops’ aromatic qualities without adding bitterness or direct flavoring. It creates a refined marriage of tropical terroir and aromatic hop character.

Flavor Profile
Expect a sophisticated flavor experience where the fruity notes of Peruvian cacao—think vibrant, floral undertones—are complemented by tropical hop characteristics. The hops contribute nuances of apricot, grapefruit, papaya, resinous pine, and subtle black tea, giving the chocolate an elevated, Riesling-like elegance.

Accolades & Awards
This bar earned a Silver award in the Asia-Pacific region at the 2025 International Chocolate Awards, highlighting SLOK’s craftsmanship and creative innovation using natural aging methods.

Tasting & Pairing Guide

Let the bar slowly melt on your tongue to experience its layered complexity: the gentle floral berry notes of the cacao harmonize with the tropical, citrusy brightness and gentle pine from the Idaho 7 hops. Pair it with a crisp, dry white wine like Riesling or Grüner Veltliner to echo its fruity and floral elements. For a non-alcoholic option, a lightly brewed green tea emphasizes the tea and floral echoes. For textured pairings, try almond biscotti or dried tropical ceviche—both enhance its fruit-forward elegance and provide delightful contrast.

Summary

With pure ingredients, creative aging technique, and award recognition, it’s a standout for adventurous chocolate lovers who appreciate delicate complexity and storytelling in every bite.

Dairy-free, Soy-free, Vegan, No added lecithin or vanilla

This brand appeals to individuals who are not afraid innovative chocolate experiences. SLOK boldly combines premium bean-to-bar chocolate with classic Asian tastes, delivering a culinary journey similar to a Michelin-starred NOMA-like adventure. For those seeking a more traditional flavor profile and hesitant to be too adventurous to try such offerings like duck liver or Hokkaido dried scallop chocolate, the brand also offers one of the best and rare selections of award-winning plain dark chocolate bars and very limited releases of single-origin hot chocolate. Their Peru Chucho 72%, named the world's best hot chocolate of 2024 by the International Chocolate Awards, is one of those very exclusive experiences for those who know their food, wine, and, of course, chocolate.

Sporting a plump sloth as its mascot, Slok Chocolate epitomizes a philosophy deeply rooted in the slow food movement. Its single-origin chocolate bars embrace simplicity, crafted solely from two ingredients: cacao and organic sugar, devoid of any added lecithin or vanilla.

The current selection includes bars sourced from Ecuador, the Philippines, Brazil, India, and Vietnam.

This brand also attracts individuals unafraid of innovative culinary experiences. SLOK boldly but thoughtfully merges premium bean-to-bar chocolate with traditional Asian flavors, offering a gastronomic voyage reminiscent of a Michelin-starred NOMA-like experience, like duck liver or Hokkaido dried scallop chocolate.

The scale of production is very limited and only available for pre-orders exclusively at Hello Chocolate.

Cacao beans, Organic cane sugar, Cacao butter

No added lecithin or vanilla—just purity and minimalism.

Our chocolate makers proudly refrain from using any artificial stabilizers or preservatives in their products, making their creations more temperature-sensitive compared to other premium chocolates.

To ensure the optimal taste experience, it's advisable to store our chocolates in a cool, dry place where the temperature hovers between 16°C and 18°C. Please refrain from refrigerating our chocolates, as this may cause sugar crystallization due to increased humidity, altering their texture and flavor.

On the contrary, if stored in excessively high temperatures, cocoa butter may separate and form a white film on the chocolate's surface. This loss of cocoa butter can lead to the chocolate drying out and, consequently, a potential alteration in flavor. Your mindful storage practices will help preserve the integrity of our delectable chocolates.
