Metiche Chocolate (Mexico): Chocolate Singular

Inspired by pre-Hispanic heritage and with a mission to create the most sophisticated chocolate in Mexico, Metiche was founded in 2020. Their chocolate offers a journey into Mexican roots through the palate. Based in Guadalajara, Metiche is a bean-to-bar factory that exclusively uses Mexican beans.

The name Metiche, which means “nosy” in Spanish, perfectly captures the essence of Mexican culture. Mexicans love knowing all the “chisme” (gossip), discovering the best parties, and meeting everyone there—just for the fun of it.

Metiche also embodies a spirit of sharing—stories, experiences, and chocolate. They believe that great connections and conversations start with sharing a piece of Metiche, a unique piece of chocolate filled with love.

While the exact origin of cocoa remains unclear, it is well known that Mexico has valued and cultivated it for centuries. Despite this rich history, Mexican chocolates are not as globally recognized as they deserve to be. Fabiola discovered this firsthand while studying in Holland, where she noticed that chocolates were sourced from all over the world—except Mexico. This realization inspired her to start her own brand and pursue her passion. “The first love I knew was my mother and the second was chocolate,” Zorrero shares.

Launching a brand is a challenging endeavor, but with determination and hard work, Fabiola managed to overcome obstacles and refine her craft. She gradually advanced, developing new recipes and acquiring extensive knowledge along the way. Eventually, she established her own workshop, where the entire chocolate-making process takes place—from cocoa bean to finished bar. This hands-on approach involves working directly with cocoa producers who handle the harvesting and fermentation, fostering a deep connection to the land and the people involved.

Today, Metiche has a presence across various parts of Mexico and now it is part of Hello Chocolate's global collection.
