How we rank: Every bar is scored against ICA results from 2022 onward. Where a bar has won multiple years, we use the highest official score. Only the 100 highest-scoring bars we can source appear on this page.

The best Canadian chocolate rarely comes from where you'd expect. It comes from small rooms in Montreal and Victoria, from makers who import beans across an ocean and roast them through a northern winter, and who — improbably — keep beating the countries that grow cacao at their own game.

Every bar ranked below was scored at the International Chocolate Awards, judged blind against the rest of the world, and we rank by that score alone. Where we can source a bar, you can buy it here; where we can't, we tell you where to find it. This is the shortest honest answer to a question most people never think to ask: is Canadian chocolate any good? It is.
