Top Latin American Dark Chocolate Bars 2025

Origin & Craftsmanship
This bar showcases heirloom cacao sourced from Tumaco — often referred to as the "Pearl of the Pacific" region of Colombia for its lush, vibrant rainforest terroir. Cacao Hunters works closely with local communities to revive native cacao genetics and bring them to global recognition through bean-to-bar craftsmanship.

Flavor Profile
Expect a complex, layered dark chocolate experience with nuanced notes of wood, spices, nuts, and caramel — an elegant reflection of its rainforest origins.

Accolades & Awards

  • Awarded Bronze at the International Chocolate Awards in 2019, the Perla Negra bar demonstrates both refined flavor and cultural storytelling.

Tasting & Pairing Guide

Let the Perla Negra bar melt slowly on your tongue to experience its fragrant layers of warm wood, subtle spice, nutty richness, and velvety caramel sweetness. Pair it with a medium-bodied red wine like a Merlot or Malbec to enhance its spice and orchard fruit undertones. For a non-alcoholic choice, a smoky oolong or aged black tea complements the roasted wood tones beautifully. Enjoy it alongside toasted pecans or a nutty biscotti to mirror the chocolate’s spiced sweetness.

Summary

The Perla Negra 74% Dark Chocolate bar is a refined expression of Colombia’s Pacific terroir — one that harmonizes ancient cacao genetics with contemporary craftsmanship. Its richly aromatic profile, minimalist ingredient list, and award-winning pedigree make it a standout for discerning chocolate lovers who value both taste and provenance.

Keep in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and strong odors. Store at maximum
18 ° C in its original packaging

Our chocolate makers proudly refrain from using any artificial stabilizers or preservatives in their products, making their creations more temperature-sensitive compared to other premium chocolates.

To ensure the optimal taste experience, it's advisable to store our chocolates in a cool, dry place where the temperature hovers between 16°C and 18°C. Please refrain from refrigerating our chocolates, as this may cause sugar crystallization due to increased humidity, altering their texture and flavor.

On the contrary, if stored in excessively high temperatures, cocoa butter may separate and form a white film on the chocolate's surface. This loss of cocoa butter can lead to the chocolate drying out and, consequently, a potential alteration in flavor. Your mindful storage practices will help preserve the integrity of our delectable chocolates.
