The World's Top Dark Chocolate Bars 2023

Origin & Craftsmanship
This bar is crafted by Cacaosuyo in Peru, using the rare Chuncho cacao beans grown in the highlands of the Cuzco region. These beans are processed with bean-to-bar precision, with full traceability and an emphasis on preserving the natural characteristics of the strain and terroir.

Flavor Profile
With 70 % cacao content, this bar opens with bright sweetness and fruity notes—think red berries and citrus—then evolves into more subtle herbaceous and woody undertones. The result is a dark chocolate that’s expressive and elegant rather than purely intense.

Tasting & Pairing Guide

Let a square melt slowly on your tongue and allow the fruity brightness to emerge first, followed by the softer herbal finish.
Pair it with a medium-bodied red wine such as a young Rioja or a well-balanced Merlot to echo the fruit-forward start and mellow finish. For a non-alcoholic pairing, a floral oolong or jasmine tea brings out the bar’s refined notes without overpowering them. To enhance texture and flavour contrast, serve alongside dried cherries or toasted pecans that mirror its layered profile.

Summary

The Chuncho Cuzco 70% bar from Cacaosuyo offers an exceptional expression of Peruvian highland cacao—bold yet nuanced, fruity yet grounded in refined cocoa character. It’s an excellent choice for chocolate lovers who appreciate origin-driven, high-quality dark chocolate with personality and depth.

Keep in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and strong odors. Store at maximum
18 ° C in its original packaging

Our chocolate makers proudly refrain from using any artificial stabilizers or preservatives in their products, making their creations more temperature-sensitive compared to other premium chocolates.

To ensure the optimal taste experience, it's advisable to store our chocolates in a cool, dry place where the temperature hovers between 16°C and 18°C. Please refrain from refrigerating our chocolates, as this may cause sugar crystallization due to increased humidity, altering their texture and flavor.

On the contrary, if stored in excessively high temperatures, cocoa butter may separate and form a white film on the chocolate's surface. This loss of cocoa butter can lead to the chocolate drying out and, consequently, a potential alteration in flavor. Your mindful storage practices will help preserve the integrity of our delectable chocolates.
