In the “Goldilocks zone” 10 degrees either side of the equator – the cocoa farmers of Mindinao Island have the ideal combination of tropical rainforest and volcanic soil. It's warm humid micro-climate and the upstream rich volcanic soil is perfect for growing a cocoa bean with a distinctive chocolate flavour complemented by hints of honey, fig, and citrus notes.
Much of the cocoa farmed here is grown on family-run farms under the shade of coconut and plantain trees, surrounded by other crops the farmers grow for themselves and their families. And once they harvest their crops, the farmers combine them, which makes fermenting and drying the cocoa easier for everyone. Collaborating like this means that small individual family farms can make a profit and everyone involved in the process benefits.

Hailing from the remote islands located in the Southern Pacific and Oceania, the cacao trees with their flame-hued pods grow in the Pacific Ring of Fire, some of which are right on the outskirts of massive dormant volcanoes. These cacao trees, also known as firetrees, is where Firetree got their inspiration for the brand name. These trees thrive specifically in the porous volcanic soil, which incidentally provides a distinct and unique taste to their cacao beans that make up just about 1% of the earth's cacao bean production.
Awesome chocolates! Great tasting, true to the tasting notes, will buy again!
