Nano_Lot cocoas are available on an extremely limited basis and consequently only at specific times of the year, meaning once they are gone, they are gone. We strongly believe that these are the world's best cocoas because of the amount of R&D given to them.
Hacienda Betulia is a Swiss-Colombian family business located in a traditional cocoa cultivating region of Colombia. The beautiful landscape with its' ideal soil and environmental conditions is situated to the east of the provincial capital, Medellin. Betulia has successfully incorporated all the required elements of a sustainable cocoa plantation. All relevant factors were carefully addressed, from scientific soil analysis and genetics test to sustainable farm practices and a sophisticated fermentation concept. After years of development, innovation, and enthusiastic work, the vision of a Colombian cacao criollo with ara and complex flavours finally came into being.
Hacienda Betulia grows three exclusive local Colombian single criollo varietals originating from the municipality of macro, Antioquia. Local, productive, fine-flavour criollo trees were selected after long observation. These special criollos were named "Betulia". The selected trees, distinguished by their given references B6, B8 and B9, were grafted and multiplied over time. 

Features

Pod: Criollo Bertulia is grown from local cacao trees located in Maceo, Colombia. No imported trees are used. All "Betulias" are propagated by consistent grafting: there is no crossbreeding with other varieties. Criollo Betulia is a true "local" member of Colombian cacao family.
Bean: Hacienda Betulia uses an accurate controlled fermentation process to develop the sweet spot between the complex cacao flavour and cacao's health benefits. Every step of the anaerobic and aerobic phases is carefully managed. The bean temperatures and pH values are regulatory measured to identify the right moment for the turns during fermentation.
Flavour: Dynamic and powerful flavour profile ending with refreshing notes of ripe pineapple and exotic star fruit.
Aftertaste: Slim film of chocolate covers the tongue for around 5 minutes.
