Ocelot Chocolate is a small business, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, and is owned and run by Matt and Ish. In 2013, two weeks after getting married, they started making chocolate in the back kitchen of our apartment, which we wrapped in cellophane and sold at local farmers markets. Five years on they have a small factory and an amazing little team (Wilma, Janet, Jacob and Hubert) who help them send they chocolate all around the world. They use only the highest grade organic and fair-trade produce and use ethical business practices in every way they can. Their outer packaging is made in the UK from FSC certified paper stock. They are working on 100% compostable inner packaging. They have always chosen to take a smaller profit margin in order to create the most delicious, and most ethical product.
Ocelot draws and designs all of their packaging and artwork themselves - Ish studied illustration at art school, and Matt has always loved art and graphic design - so this is a hugely important part of Ocelot's business. They take great pride in coming up with designs that have a meaning beyond the aesthetic.
